Cristiano Ronaldo apologises to Real Madrid team-mates for outburst


Cristain Ronaldo apologised to his Real Madrid team-mates ahead of a training session on Monday and attempted to clarify comments he made following the derby defeat to Atletico Madrid.

Some 40 hours after losing 1-0 to rivals Atletico, Real's player were reunited on Monday in the Valdebebas training complex. Zinedine Zidane had scheduled training for 11am following a day off, and in the meantime plenty had been said since match official Clos Gomez blew for full time at the Bernabeu.

Army's Delta Force begins to target ISIS in Iraq


The U.S. Army's elite Delta Force operations to target, capture or kill top ISIS operatives have begun in Iraq, after several weeks of covert preparation.
The official said the group has spent the last several weeks preparing, including setting up safe houses, establishing informant networks and coordinating operations with Iraqi and Peshmerga units. It's the same strategy that Special Operations forces have used in previous deployments to combat zones.

Prince William County police officer Ashley Guindon was killed Saturday night in Lake Ridge. She was sworn in Friday.

Boko Haram attacks kill at least 30, locals say


Boko Haram militants killed at least 30 people during attacks on two villages over two days in northeast Nigeria.
The vicious attacks saw the raiders looting food supplies, carting away herds, and kidnapping women and children.
Gunmen in pickups and on bicycles stormed the remote villages of Yakshari and Kachifa in Damboa district, slaughtering villagers, said Musa Suleiman, a member of a local ad hoc group fighting Boko Haram alongside Nigeria's military.

Black Lives Matter activist DeRay Mckesson filed to run for mayor of Baltimore on Wednesday night, joining a crowded Democratic primary race hours ahead of the registration deadline.
"It is true that I am a non-traditional candidate  --  I am not a former mayor, city councilman, state legislator, philanthropist or the son of a well-connected family," Mckesson said in a Medium post announcing his candidacy. "I am an activist, organizer, former teacher and district administrator that intimately understands how interwoven our challenges and our solutions are."

Missing journalist appears to be in Chinese government custody, wife says


A Chinese journalist who had gone missing weeks ago in Thailand appears to be in Chinese government custody, according to his wife.

Li Xin's disappearance was the latest in a string of mysterious cases involving Chinese writers or dissidents whom Beijing seems to have apprehended as they sought asylum in Thailand. The cases have caused apprehension among human rights advocates, who believe China has expanded its pursuit of critics to beyond its borders.
